Departmental Computer Purchases
Buy@Duke is a web-based e-procurement tool enabling users to compare and select items from multiple vendors’ catalogs into a single shopping cart, take advantage of negotiated discounts based on Duke’s volume purchasing powers, eliminate paper requisitions, and customize electronic workflows at the unit level. The system is accessible through the Duke@work self-service website.
Duke’s Digital Signage program is a centrally managed/locally controlled electronic sign and interactive display platform. Employee Computer Purchase Plan
The Duke Technology Center in partnership with the Duke University Federal Credit Union is proud to offer Duke Employees a payroll deduction program for the purchase of computers and tablets (including accessories).
Persons: The payment plan is available to Duke University and Duke Health employees, requires member qualification and is subject to credit approval.
Eligible persons can purchase any computer and/or tablet and hardware accessories sold at the Duke Technology Center (must be purchased together). Software, supplies and service are ineligible products and must be purchased separately using another approved payment method such as cash, credit card, Flex, etc.

Apple, Dell, Lenovo, and Microsoft computers purchased from the DTC may be returned within 5 business days of the purchase if the product is in resalable condition and is accompanied by the original receipt, all shipping and packing material, and all manufacturer’s documentation originally supplied with the merchandise. Open box computers are subject to a restocking fee of up to 25%.
Returns will be accepted within 14 days of the purchase date if in resalable condition and accompanied by all original packing and manufacturer’s documentation. Opened products may be subject to a 25% restocking fee. IMPORTANT NOTE: Headphones of all types are not eligible for return, due to sanitary conditions. Such items may be returned to the manufacturer.
All sales are final unless in the original, unopened packaging. Unopened items in resalable condition are returnable within 14 days after purchase. Opened Apple products cannot be returned. Defective Apple accessory product claims are provided directly through Apple. See https://www.apple.com/legal/warranty/ for more details.
Unopened current version software products may be returned up to 14 days from the date of sale. Opened software products will be exchanged for like product only. There are no refunds for opened retail software products or licensed software and manuals.
No refunds on service parts. Defective service parts will be exchanged for a like part only up to 30 days from the date of purchase. After 30 days from the date of purchase, defective service parts will be handled in accordance with the manufacturer’s warranty.
Custom configure-to-order (CTO) computers from Apple are NOT eligible for stock balance, return, or price protection privileges. Apple configure-to-order systems (part numbers beginning with Z) received by the Duke Technology Center and subsequently cancelled or declined by the customer will be assessed a 25% cancellation fee.
Discontinued, clearance or sale hardware, accessories, and software CANNOT be returned or exchanged.
